The Buitenfonds is an independent foundation that raises money for projects in the nature reserves of Staatsbosbeheer. This allows Staatsbosbeheer to realize valuable projects, such as taking children outside, preserving and making cultural-historical treasures accessible, exciting ways to experience nature and making the social work of the forester possible. Projects for which financing is no longer available. The Buitenfonds works together with companies and private individuals to realize green wishes for current and future generations.

Why Buitenfonds?
Staatsbosbeheer uses the SNL scheme (Nature and Landscape Subsidies). This scheme provides financing for nature management and basic recreation facilities (walking and cycling). All other valuable projects and activities such as education, keeping monuments accessible, etc. are only possible with contributions from additional subsidies, funds and foundations, donors, sponsors and legacies.

What does Buitenfonds stand for?
The foundation supports the social importance of Staatsbosbeheer by financially supporting projects (in money or in kind) that protect nature and make it enjoyable to experience. For now and in the future. The projects are showcased in
6 worlds: Ecological footprint, New Wilderness, Cultural Treasures, Children, Forest Ranger and Experience.
